The
Learning Management System (LMS)
Lovely Infotech has been built upon a state of
the art Learning Management System (LMS) that
provides all the desired features to enable student,
faculty and campus management. The integrated
Learning Management System contains the following
systems-
Student
Management System-
The student management system allows management
of the student profile, performance management
including performance in online quizzes, exercises,
assignments and final examination, analysis and
reporting, and also monitoring of student learning
behavior based on student activity.
Faculty
Management System-
The faculty management system allows supervisors
or administrators to manage faculty profile, edit
faculty timetable, chat sessions, and effectively
monitor the faculty performance based on student
feedback and batch performance.
Campus
Management System-
The campus management system allows the
supervisor or administrator to manage the miscellaneous
campus activities like payment system, managing
student-faculty chat sessions, facility for sending
announcements to students as and when required,
taking student queries, site feedback, sending
newsletters and other such back-end operations.
Productivity
Tools The LMS interfaces with several productivity
tools and user options to make the learning experience
more fulfilling.
Calendar-
The user can plan his classes and his study
work. The calendar is also intergrated to show
the schedule of synchronous discussions/chats
and white board sessions.
Profiles-
The user can create his own profile and can view
the profiles of his own classmates and peer groups
in the same learning environment.
News- Faculty
can put up articles of intreset; specfic news
items; for the students to view.
Announcements-
Tutors can send out specific announcements to
defined classes and students groups.
Help- A help
section to provide step-by-step guidance on the
navigation and use of the system.
Add Notes-
The tutor and the students can add notes
to their contents for future references. This
can be done at all levels of the content.
Offline Access-
The user can view the content by downloading
the same at their local machines. In addtion assignments
can be downloaded as well to be completed offline
and then uploaded onto the system. This overrides
the need to be constantly connected to the web,
saving usage costs.
FAQ's- Users
can ask questions in the FAQ link tutors can reply
to these questions. The tutor then has the roght
to allow these questions and answers for public
viewing.
The
LMS provides the following tools and utilities
to the students in order to provide an engaging
and intuitive learning environment:
Multimedia rich interactive
content- The
content has been designed to allow student participation
and interaction thereby eliminating the monotony
of the student- learning environment.
Voice over text, animations,
demonstrations and case studies-
The content includes complete voice over
text so as to give a feel of the live instructor
sessions. This also includes detailed demonstrations
to make concept understanding stronger and easier.
Voice-over-animations are also integrated to prove
a step-by-step learning approach.
True learning experience
on one-to-one basis-
As all the students study in their own
virtual classrooms, each student feels that the
faculty is giving him/her their full time and
attention.
Real-time, anytime, anywhere
learning- The
student can learn at his own place and at his
own pace of learning. This allows students to
study as per their own schedule and ease.
Synchronous & Self paced
learning- The
content can be broadcasted at the same time as
the faculty is taking the session (synchronous)
and the recorded sessions can also be viewed by
the students at their own pace.
Facility for StudentFaculty interaction-
The students can interact with highly experienced
and competent faculty via chat and email.
Facility for Student- Student
interaction-
The students can also interact with fellow
batch-mates via chat and email.
User
Management-User management pertains
to the following: Create
and Manage other entities of LMS Assign
roles and rights Define
repots Monitor
interaction, Communication and evaluation process
Evaluation and Assessment-Evaluation is the process of gauging knowledge
dissipation within the user group. This involves
tests, assissgnments, quizzes and collaborative
project work. Evaluation management pertains to
the following. Creation
of question bank with the variety of testing options Create
and manage tests and assissgments Content
specfic quizzes
A host of collaboration
tools Even within the diatance learning education
environment, interation between the tutors and
students is essential to gauge the dissipation
of knowledge and provide inputs, clarify doubts,
queries etc. so that the education experience
is enhanced. The LMS incorporates several bilateral
and unilateral interation tools such as:
Chat- The students
can use this tool to interact with the faculty
and their fellow batch-mates by exchanging written
messages in real-time. In order to interact in
real-time, both the partners need to be online
at the same time and logged on to the virtual
campus.
Discussion forum-
The students can use this tool for open
offline discussions on their topics of interest.
The students can write their queries in the forum
under a specific subject category. The faculties
and other students can enter their replies/answers
to the queries posted by different students.
Email- The students
can use this tool to send mails to the faculty
and fellow batch-mates by entering their messages.
Once the messages are delivered, they will show
up in the "inbox" of the receiver. The receiver
can then read the message and also post a reply
to the message or forward the same to another
student/faculty.
Electronic Whiteboard-
This tool simulates the conventional black
board that is used by faculty to teach the students.
As the faculty draws on the whiteboard, the students
can view the image of the board in real-time.
This gives the students a feel of the virtual
presence of the faculty as is present in the conventional
education system.
File Sharing-
This tool allows the students to share
their documents with fellow batch-mates and enables
them to work in teams or groups. This is of great
help when they are working on projects or assignments.
Announcements-
This tool allows students to receive important
notices and circulars issued by the university.
Reminders-
This tool allows students to prepare their
own calendar by entering the various tasks that
need to be completed on a certain point of time.
The reminder will automatically remind the student
in advance as soon as he/she logs on to the virtual
campus about the task that needs to be completed
that was entered for a particular day and time.
Newsletters-
This tool allows students to periodically receive
latest news updates issued by the university.
Analysis-The
LMS maintains extensive data mining across the
system. This helps to define and create various
reports, which are easily customizable. These
can range from tracking user navigation across
content to results comparison and statistical
analysis and presentation of scores. However for
evaluation of students the conventional examination
system is being retained (with 80% weightage)
till an appropriate and reliable online evaluation
mechanism evolves.
